RF Online

Start playing

Four steps. The launcher does the rest, including keeping your client up to date.

  1. 1

    Create an account

One account works on the website and in the launcher. Register here, then sign in with the same email and password when the launcher asks.

  2. 2

    Get the original client

You need a copy of the original RF Online client. We do not distribute it: it is not ours to give away, and this project only replaces the server side.

  3. 3

    Download the launcher

The launcher signs you in and points the client at our server. Grab it from the downloads page on Old School Ops, unzip it into your client folder, and run rflauncher.exe.

  4. 4

    Connect

The launcher points at the server out of the box. If the status light says offline, the server is down rather than misconfigured: check the home page or Discord.

Running your own server

Every release ships as a self-contained bundle: server binaries for Windows and Linux, a SQLite database that needs nothing installed, and the launcher. Extract it, edit settings.cfg, run start-server. The full guide lives on oldschoolops.com.
